Hey lovelies, hope you all are well and having a great start to this week and month! Speaking of month, can’t believe this year is progressing so quickly; we’re in June! Life is great, the sun is out, the BBQ socials and wedding season have commenced, everything appears…LIT!

As exciting as this sound, coupled with swift progressions comes the question of whether one is fulfilling purpose – goals that were set at the start of this year, or even redirection at the beginning of a new month. Whilst for most part this might be necessary, the effectiveness of it really is subject to what standards one is judging by.

Unfortunately, we at times can be the originators of our setbacks. Identifying similar goals executed differently, we question the validity of ours; thus feeling the need to employ alternate measures. Whilst that is not a problem in itself, one needs to ensure that such measures are a viable alternative. Here are three tips for making purposeful decisions:

  • Enquire/Assess: Are the methods currently being used maximised to their true capacity? Are you consistent, efficient and diligent? As similar as these factors are, they carry differing weight to aid productivity. If by smart and wise reasonable judgement these have been exhausted, one then may consider exploring viable alternatives.
  • Explore: The aim here is to ensure that alternatives are carefully looked into. You should seek to understand why it works and how it can work for YOU. Remember, you are not in competition with anyone but yourself. Reaffirm yourself and stay on course.
  • Employ: After carefully selecting the measure to be used, put it into practice. Once again, consistently, efficiently and diligently. I also must emphasize that one remains true to themselves. Progression requires that you better your skills, not embodying another’s lifestyle, goal or ambition.

I very much hope you all can relate. As bloggers for example, there’s a constant need to change strategies to suit algorithms and drive traffic to one’s page, which at times can be frustrating. With several suggestions out there, how do you overcome the need for change yet maintaining your stance, brand or even ideals? Please share your thoughts below, let’s reason together.

Be Right Back,

Funmi xx

  1. Funmi! Funmi!! This post is valuable, and I agree with all you’ve said. Change is good, but don’t get lost in it. Loving your outfit and your hair here also. You look amazing!

    1. You are absolutely right! People sometimes make decisions on a whim, which they later regret.
Thanks for stopping by, hun. xx

    1. This is great to hear, I’m glad you found this post motivating. I wish you all the best with the studying and hope you have a great weekend also. xx

    1. Ouu, that’s a very good point! Pinterest is on I unfortunately still haven’t gotten my head round; I need to look into it again. xx

  2. Great post! Last year I stopped having a physical journal to go to review what all my goals are and now I have everything written in front of me again and you’re so right about checking your goals. It always reinspires me to really focus on the end game. I try not to think about Instagram too much. The algorithm has worked against me for so long. In a way it’s a blessing because I spend less time on it now, but at least I’ve met amazing people through it. 🙂

    1. You’re so right, hun. Every now and then, I rethink and rewrite my goals also just to remind myself of what they are and assess how strongly I feel about each. This aids effective prioritizing. Regarding Instagram, I’m strangely in-between caring and being unbothered. I’m less frustrated when things don’t go the way I hope, which is a good thing. Nonetheless like you’ve said, I have met some lovely people on there also, which makes it worth it at least.

      Thanks for stopping by xx

  3. I don’t really know how I manage my goals. I don’t wonder about these, they sort of appear. So when I was a student the natural goal was to graduate, then when I graduated it was a better job (I was working throughout most of my studies, but part time or the job was not great), later I found a better job, so my next goal was to get a raise, or learn more, or something like that. I believe I have to take a closer look at myself and decided what I want to do now. Thank you for making me introspect.

  4. Ms Funmi Fums! I’m loving this look on you! Now back to the topic at hand, I set myself a few goals to reach by June, gotta be honest I have not achieved the ones that related to the gym and my blog/Insta.
For the gym, that’s because I have knee problems and sometimes the pain is too bad to go and that’s something I am trying to find a way to work with.
Blog/Insta: I have not been consistent there because I have prioritzed a project I’m working on in Berlin as an SEO copywriter.
That and the side consultancy gig I do.
As for the algorithms etc changing on Insta, honestly, I have noticed my Likes and comments go down but coz my priorities lie elsewhere, I haven’t changed my strategy. My goal is once I get to where I need to get to in my Berlin gig, that will free up the time for me to work on my other goals.

    Ok, essay over ( ;
Have a lovely start to your week hon. X

  5. That is a pretty and luxe top! I don’t take seriously anymore on how to drive traffic to my blog or social media. I just do and produce content that I really love whilst enjoying the process. I did try to work hard in my IG account but it’s just draining so I’m just like taking an enjoyable ride while interacting with my followers or those I followed. Thanks for sharing dear, it makes me realise I’m not the only one in this predicament.

  6. Hello Beautiful. I can’t believe this year is flying by but I’m having a great time so I can’t complain. I’ve been going to tons of weddings this year and it’s not over yet. Thank you for these helpful tips on making purposeful decisions. I need all of them 🙂 I love you earrings and those cute shoes.

  7. My rule is always be myself. I say what i think no matter if it is a polemic opinion.
I dont agree with the majority of people might think. If i loose followers i dont care. Thats my true that matters.
